13-09-2010 Unusual/Extraordinary occurrence!
The Anglesea Estuary has experienced a fish kill.

Fish species that were found dead included the Small-Mouthed Hardyhead, Tupong (?), Yellow-eyed Mullet, Australian Salmon, Flounder and Black Bream.

The estuary appeared to be bright blue in colour with a white cloudy substance accumulating in depressions on the estuary floor.

At the time the Estuary was open and flowing out to sea. Prior to today there had been heavy rain. As a result the estuary was at a high level (1.74m). Rose Herben

Diversion Channel- pH= 3.8, EC=1.577mS/cm, Temp=12.5, flow present and clear.

Marshy Creek- pH= 3.5, EC= 3.41 mS/cm, Temp=9.9, DO= 54.8%, DO= 6.07mg/L, fast flow, more water than salt creek, clear water.

04-01-2013 Estuary Entrance Opening
We received advice that the Anglesea River, which was sitting at 1.580 AHD yesterday, was opened illegally sometime between 8pm 3rd January and 7am 4th January. The channel is 0.5 m wide with quite a high amount of sand on both sides and it is flowing at a reasonable rate. I noted yesterday that the monitoring station was indicating lower dissolved oxygen levels in the top layer 2.4 mg/l (7.5 mg/l bottom).

At 8.00am on January 5, the estuary had already reverted back to being closed......dynamic stuff! Rose Herben
