#1553 5 Nov 2008 Approved Notes: Sand higher on bar, water coming into top track at estuary, strong north wind blowing sand to sea.
Bar is lower against cliff, 24.5ml of rain in the previous 6 days.
Pied oyster catcher ocean side of bar, cormorants fishing along waves. 2 dogs on beach and evidence of horse tracks.

More sand over rocks at entrance, wave direction to east end of beach some drift coming back into mouth. Out flow travelling along beach and out south/west, main flow south/west.
#1522 15 Nov 2008 Approved Notes: River nearly closed on the 13/11/08, reopen slightly 13/11/08, small 5-7cm fish around rocks at entrance. Fresh discharge along beach to the east, a lot of sand south of the mouth, waves coming in from the west.
#1523 21 Nov 2008 Approved Notes: Sand on the mid beach is much higher than the river. Sand being blown from edge of estuary to the mouth.
Dead seal found on beach.
Very reduced flow, new channel between rocks at extreme end of the cliff face about 1m wide.
Sand reducing width of channel near tunnel.
Depth of water greatly reduced from last week.
#1552 29 Nov 2008 Approved Notes: Large flock of black backed ibis on the camping ground. Salmon being caught near the mouth of the estuary.
Signs of waves over the bar in the last 12hrs, flow from upstream is reducing, waves from the estuary in the south upto 10-15 cm. Green rocks totally covered and water over wall of gate to tunnel.

#1451 11 Dec 2008 Approved Notes: Lots of 5-10cm Bony fish in shetered shallows of the estuary, over 300 of them in smaller groups. Lots of dragon flies present.
Before artifical opening of river mouth -
Waves to 10cm and travelling from S to N, east side of estuary sheltered, foam streaks running length of estuary, estuarywater colour a reddish brown and sand stir of beach.
#1452 13 Dec 2008 Approved Notes: Extreme weather conditions, winds coming south down estuary, large channel about 20m wide at mouth.
Sand cliff 1.5m at eastern side, waves entering mouth.
egetation flattened and being covered bysand on the more sheltered side of the dunes.
No photos taken due to severe weather conditions.
#1460 15 Dec 2008 Approved Notes: Dead seal found on the beach with no visible marks or indications for the reason of its death.
Recently exposed vegetation on the side of estuary covered with white powder, rocks exposed at the cliff.
Discharge is going along in front of beach and also to south west. Channel reduced from 13/12/08 to about 15m wide.
brown stain east end of the beach on sand high up on beach, new sand cliff at same location.
Sand being brounght back to mouth by waves from east, possible long shore drift?
Fisherman caught 8" bream on edge of estuary.
